i've been busy left n right but yet i'm starting to get into the 'blah' mode of life. Kinda odd, but it must be a biorhythm thing. I got the day off 'cuz Roxannes Parents came over to visit. We went to the Filoli (Fi-Low-Lee) finally. It's the northern california version of the huntington library. Big mansion built by wealthy peoples back in the good old days. This puppy is 654 acres, a little more than a square mile, but in the shape of a rectangle. Vast gardens and classic architecture. It's a nice little shack. I've got pics, a whole lotta, i'll put them up on the site one day. It's a very good place to play hide-n-seek, paintball, airsoft, stuff like that. Neakneak!
Also on the list was Roxannes Parents brought our christmas presents.. Kinda early you wonder? well it's more like kinda late. '02 xmas presents. I got some pimp slippers! I'll take some pics, they own! And Roxanne got a lava lamp! The sad part was we didn't know how long it takes for the lamp to make them lovely globules. Well it took about an hour for the colored stuff (waxy looking) to liquify, then it took another 2 for the big wax ball to turn into a ball. And after that, well, i went home, i had to go sleep for work. heh..
Technology.. ahh yea, i remember my parents saying. why buy it now, just wait, it'll be cheaper and better. Ya, you can only wait so long before you go nutz.. hopefully it hasn't happened yet. So my search for the laptops i've seen the 'deals' come n go and i happened to scribble down what you get for what money you pay. I was looking at the Dell 8600.. 3 weeks ago i was stuck with these two configs:
$1467 Dell8600 1.3 sxga 64mb video 60gb hd dvd/cdrw OR
$1496 Dell8600 1.4 sxga+ 64mb video 40gb hd dvd/cdrw
Now the latest deal, which is ending soon is:
$1463 Dell8600 1.3 sxga+ 32mb video 40gb hd 4x dvd burner
So it's worth it but not worth it, a balance and i guess to dell's whim they seem to have one certain part on sale.
The 64mb video is about a 130$ deal. the dvd burner is a 230$ deal. and the + in the sxga + is i think 100$ deal. Either way nothing has *peaked* my interest in getting one yet. I would like an IBM, they are the beefiest. and i Do tend to test items to it's limits.. I just do what i would normally do with such things, it just sucks when it fails on me.
What happened to all the quality stuff anymore? Everything is machinemade, mass produced. At the Filoli everything was handmade. I'd like some of that handmade goodness back.
