Picture day!

Matt N Jenny at Point Bonita with the Golden Gate in the Background
Today i hung out with Major Mucelli and his ROTC Brat pack for some basic Orienteering. Its not like back in the day style, run in the hills and tromp on the poison oak, but a more mundane style of exercise.
Captain Matt Cohen and his wife Jenny (Van) helped out. We hung out and mostly made sure the kids didn't roam off, we basically hung out in a pack. I got a tan, being the only one in shorts which was nice.
We were there for 3 hours or so and after the little nature hike was done us Alumni folk roamed to Point Bonita Lighthouse.
Last time i was there at Valentines, fluffielady and i met a metal door to the entrance. This time it was open, the neat thing about the place is an old rickety bridge that only 2 people at a time may be on.
Before i headed off, i found this image stitching program, i do like a good stitched panoramic. I still have my old photos of the panoramic from Sugar Bowl at my parents house. Its called Hugin Photo Stitcher, it does a good job aligning multiple points on recursive photos. Its so much better in a Panoramic then one pic.
Heres some other Point Bonita Panoramics:

Point Bonita Facing North

Point Bonita facing East and South..
I likie the Panoramics.. I'll try to produce more when i'm roaming now.

Happy valentines day!
Its also my 8th year working for da man. Dang thats real scary!
Dream:
The only part i remember is standing infront of a Bart Ticket Machine and it was new with a 5 number keycode that represents each station. But when i type in the code, it gives me a different destination. weird..
Cut work today and fluffielady and i did our semi-usual at valentines: Floating towards the Marin Headlands. The weather being quite good with clear blue skies except the winds were a blowin.
-Took off for Sausalito around 10:30am. Hung out at Fort Baker

Another angle of the Golden Gate Bridge. I think i've seen every angle, even overhead as well as with fireworks!
I guess this is where the Discovery Center is. It's a kiddie version of the exploratorium, a kiddie kiddie version.
-Ate at the Horizons Restaurant, next to the Scoma's in Sausalito. Food was not bad, it wasn't ultra shiek but it wasn't crap either. View was beautiful. When we got there at 11:30am there was nobody, we were the first to be sat. Parking was hard but there weren't many people roaming around. Oddness.
I had a Crab Sandwich, which was open faced with a nice spring salad. Fluffielady had a Clam Chowder, Caesar Salad and Bay Shrimp Salad combo. Yummie looking. Service was good. But reading it on yelp says service is good if the crowd is light.
-After eating and walking a little bit around Sausalito. We headed to the Headlands, Up top to the two golden gate vistas (Battery Vagner and #129) and worked our way towards the Point Bonita lighthouse. Hiking down a steep embankment a steel door at the entrance of a tunnel stops us from getting close to the lighthouse. It was closed like usual, we normally have problems seeing lighthouses (like at Point Reyes).

Small lil Point Bonita lighthouse.
-Roamed to Fort Cronkhite and hung out at Rodeo Beach. It gives me Flashbacks of High School ROTC Orienteering. Good times good times.
-Got home and fluffielady heads to work. Time for me to make some Broiled Steaks for dindins.

A Red Egg party for Juliana Low @ the Empress of China!
Too bad i only took one pic and that was of the photographer David(heh). Julianas looking good at 3 months and i got to see a few peoples that i haven't seen in ages. The 3 Chicas + 1 Baby, Eddie N Alison (Congrats with one in the oven), Jay n Jensen, Jordan and his BestBuy Fetish. Jerry N Vicky sporting the slightly beaten look still, but theyre hanging in there..
Buffet Style Lunch was nice, a little on the old school style cooking, but its been awhile since i had Ginger Pig Knuckle Soup, ahh yea the good stuff, all i need after that is a bowl of rice porridge with pork and thousand-year old egg! Add a Fried Dough Stick of course!
Afterwards fluffielady, myself and my brother roamed union square to no incidents and no purchases. There was still a strong human presence out there peering around for the greatest of deals. Look as they might, i doubt Tiffany's ever had a sale.
Gotta slip in that i had a haircut yesterday, its been a while!

Bucket o Appos, 20+lbs of Pink Ladies for $11.50, big, crunchy n yummy!
Timestamped from 11/12..
Took the in-laws to Placerville, actually to Apple Hill, a land of flowy hills, christmas tree farms, winerys and apple orchards. From October till thanksgiving or so it's apples a plenty. It's like the pumpkin festivities, except with apples. At least the pricing was decent, .59-.79 cents per pound of any which apple, golden delicious, gala, fuji, granny, red, arkansas black (it's bland, ick!), mutsu, etc etc.
Came home with 2 half gallons of apple cider, 1/2 an apple pie, an apple cake (which tastes much like carrot cake), 20+ lbs of apples, a few antiques, and some tidbits from the vacaville outlets.
All day driving is slightly tiring though.

Roaming the Coast, Highway 1 style.

Hanging at Pescadero
Whelp that completes the connection that i was missing. I've driven on highway 1 from Ft. Bragg (north coast is horrid for driving!) all the way down to the town of Ventura. Not all in one jaunt, but nonetheless. We headed off to the neat little town of Pescadero, 2 miles in from highway 1. We've heard a many a good thing about stopping there. It's a town about one block long with a few knick-knacky shops, one tavern-restaurant, a general store, a bakery and two churches. It was pretty happening when we arrived around 11am. Bicyclists were swarming as well as motorcyclists were chewing rubber everywhichway. Two coworkers of mine and a bunch of customers of fluffielady's told us about the wonderous and great foods that the tavern as well as the bakery possess. We had to choose one place to eat and decided on Arcangeli's bakery. You can smell the yummy goodness flowing out of the place. It seems that the coastal speciality involves artichokes, lots of it, everywhere, dips, sauces, and breads. The bakery has these half-baked (not the movie, heh) breads where customers finish cooking them at home. We bought 2 artisian looking sourdoughs, sandwiches and a handmade raspberry mustard there. The whole pies were $13. One coworker recommended getting food and go past the town a little into the cemetary and up the hill and theres some benches there to eat. Eat at a cemetary? ok lets try that.

Highest point of Pescadero is the Cemetary hill!
The sandwiches were a little on the small side for 6$ but it was fresh and delicious dutch crunch. It was good enough, since we were continuing down towards Santa Cruz.

Hello says the Seagull, welcome to the boardwalk. Got Food?
Made it to the Beach Boardwalk around 12:30pm and trotted around a little. Drove through it's downtown area, which reminds me of Berkeley's University or College Ave. It reminds me both in terms of eateries as well as hippies, yes, the full bearded, tye-dyed doods.

SeaLions say Waddup!
I dunno why but i'm having a camping gear fetish, and i was in the mood for backpacking gear. Backpacking is more specialized, which means it costs more because it's all about the least amount of weight carried on your back! I saw on craigslist this guy in Felton, CA, selling a single burner coleman for cheap, so after a few back n forth Emails, and serendipity with roaming down south. I picked it up from him. Felton is a small town few miles up the hill from Santa Cruz on highway 9.
After we roamed Felton a little, we wanted to drive up highway 9 all the way to highway 35. I heard its a good ride for motorcyclists and driving enthusiasts. So up we go and then there was traffic, of the non-moving type. We waiting around and it slowly inched up and up, and there were a few people walking on the side of the highway. Finally one guy tells a car in front of us that theres a house fire and you can't get through. Man! So did a 180 and drove back up highway 1. Might as well stop at Pescadero again and eat at Duarte's Tavern.
Duarte's opened in 1894 and it's generations owned. Bar turned barber shop turned ice cream shop turned sandwich shop turned restaurant, this small place employs 65 workers (how?) and feeds about 10000 people a month (how?!) as the story goes on the back of the menu.
Feeling like a big man, i venture to order the prime rib at $18, one of their more expensive dishes and fluffielady had the pork chops with applesauce $16. Their complimentary sourdough was artisian, with a crunchy crust and a doughy fluffie soft insides. When the entrees came ahh man! It was a monster prime rib, one and a quarter inch thick large 1-pound sucker that was excellent tasting as well as texture. Fluffielady's was a good pan fried 2-piece chops but she liked breaded pork chops more. Applesauce though tasted like apple pie, with apple bits in it, nice! We heard about the excellent artichoke soup as well as the peach and apple pies but how can you eat such a thing after? and at 6$ for pie ($7.50 ala mode), it's a little bit too much. This is one serious pie town!
We might need to go back for all the missed artichoke action as well as the pies. oi! ...Tummy... full.
