Todays Dream was an interested one. It involved being in the Steampunk era. Steampunk is a science fiction genre in which the time is modern today. Yet the technology that we have is run off a different system. One which is still run by gears, steam engine, chain driven type stuff, there are no plastics, it's mainly metals and glass. An example is a CRT television with the exception that there is no frame since it was plastic. You could see in insides, the tube, wiring, metal components.
Anyhow my dream involved building the empire state building but with large machines, the only thing i really remembered was that at the top of the building were these enormous panels that opened or closed depending on daylight. These panels were moved by these huge chains that ran on the side of the building.

Example of a steampunk computer:

Onto the main course.. Pumpkins!!

One of Roz's many supermodel poses.

The crew gathered to posse up off to Half Moon Bay. Highway one on the way there and back sucked. The suckage started near the town of half moon bay. I'm guessing everybody was trying to get into town for some reason. i think there was quite a media blitz on the town and everybody descended on it like mad. We arive at our usual Arata's Pumpkin farm, which was mad packed with people. It's the most we've ever seen in the past 2 years of going there. And with that came the crazy prices, pumpkins as much as 18$!! C'mon thats a mad amount to pay for some squash. They added a bit of things and i guess charges people for it. The one thing that we felt was worth it was the 5$ hay bale maze. It's huge and had a fair amount of deadends and roundabouts. So it took a while to get around it.
Fluffielady and i see a sign for an old west pumpkin patch, and i guess this guy who owns the land decides to create his own old west scenery. It's called the Long Branch Saloon and Farms. You can rent it out for your own custom cowboy party. Last year it was low key, had a small undecipherable sign and we thought it was another small pumpkin patch. I think these guys were in it for the word of mouth type stuff. Since they were giving away pumpkins. Buy 4 slices of pumpkin pie, and get a free pumpkin. What kinda pumpkin? they don't care, grab one out there. Also at the patch their pumpkins were 4$ or less, no matter the size. So fluffielady got the mondo one from the pie slices and another one which i nicknamed the curler, since it looks like it's for curling, for 4$. I liked the old west themed saloon, and everybody seemed to praise the bathroom.
The third spot that we went to was up the hill past arata's and it was just a plain field with one exception, it had a pumpkin tossing sling attached to it. You had to really pull on it to get the baby pumpkins going. There were a few horses feeding off the exploded pumpkins, and they were standing a little too close to the target. One guy actually hit the horse square on the head with a pumpkin. The horse kinda shrugged it off and continued foraging for pumpkin bits. Silly horse. The sling was harder this time and it wasn't aimed at the right area. Sherwins got some pics of that.
Driving back sucked, everybody wanted to get onto the 92. Good luck with that one..
Good times good times.

Sunny and hot hot today at the Range.
A bright and clear blue sky. Easy drive to n fro, with slight traffic coming back. Thanks destroyed 580 East!

200 Yard Slow Offhand: 187-3x
200 Yard Rapid Sitting: 95
300 Yard Rapid Prone: 96-2x
600 Yard Slow Prone: 96-3x With One Silly Half Loaded Round resulting in a 6.
Total: 474-8x

i didn't do all that good. i need to put more time into my rapids, i find it funny that i used to do better at the rapids then the other 2, and now it's gone the other way. One round in the Slow prone went 'bum-p' instead of 'bang'. It musta been halfloaded since it did reach the target, as a 4-o'clock 6, ick. There weren't that many people today, about 13 shooting, all the others are at Coalinga. From what i hear from some who returned, Coalinga was horrid with 25-35mph crosswinds! Thats the only thing i don't get much at Richmond, theres very low wind happening and i need more experience in gaging and feeling for the wind. i dunno if i'll ever enter in a Coalinga match. 3-hour drive, and it usually starts around 7 or 8am. Heck going to Sacramento for one of these state matches is hell already.

Got home, twiddled with the sound system in Delilah, i think the rear left speaker is toast, and i dunno if i can find a replacement one.
Made some .40s for duty weapons, now i've got 1 more box of .38 and 1 box of .223 and i'm all loaded up. For now..

I just can't believe that it's 71.6 degrees right now at 9pm. Whats going on??!!

Video Of the Day is:
Nasa's New Methane Refuelable Rocket. Turn up your speakers for this one!

Via Technologies comes out with their smallest Form Factor Motherboard using their C3 1ghz chip called the Pico-ITX.

The actual motherboard is smaller than the CD it's sitting on! It's as small as a 2.5" laptop harddrive. i thought Nano-ITX was small, people were making pc's out of a Soccer Ball and the one size higher the Mini-ITX toasters and Attache Case with LCD monitor, thus making it a laptop of sorts.
Smaller and smaller baby! woot!

And now for something that'll make your heart leap up into your throat. I wish i was up there in Canada riding one of these in my prime days of mountain biking.

The stories go that up in British Columbia on the North Shore are these daredevils who like to mountain bike. But then the county of sorts decides that mountain bike trails are too damaging to the environment. So these guys said ok, we'll BUILD the trails ABOVE the trails and you see there is some of the teeny tiny wooden bridges that are 4 tire widths wide. It takes alot of hard work, planning, blood sweat and tears to create a run like that. And if the rangers take down the run, they've gotta rebuild somewhere else.. again..
I do love good singletrack, technicals too.. But those jumps are slightly sketchy..

Yesterday did nothing except:
Brought the M1 Garand into separate states of being:

The two top right pieces are the firing pin, top is new (to me) and bottom is the dead one. Yesterday, the pin came in the mail and i ventured to see how hard it was to replace the firing pin. Thanks to the Civilian Marksmanship website, it has exactly what to do in picture form. I remembered seeing another page on simple things to do to work the action better, but can't seem to find it anymore. Oh well, then just replaced the pin and put it back together. Another day for the action job i guess.

Today:
Sunny, clear, warm. Good day to shoot today. It was soo good that there were only 9 shooters today.
My goal was to try for a high master score. hah!
200 Yard Slow Offhand: 190-6x (highest offhand yet)
200 Yard Rapid Sitting: 95-1x
300 Yard Rapid Prone: 99
600 Yard Slow Prone: 94-2x
Total: 478-9x

My offhand was pretty excellent, until the last two shots, which were an 8 and a 7! After that it sorta slid downhill. Somehow my rapid sitting jammed on the last shot. On the Rapid Prone, my natural point of aim was off, but i shot so well that the group was planted right in the 10 ring with one shot slightly off to the 9, best group i've ever seen. It was probably a slight rectangle box 1.5inch wide, 2 inches tall. I shoulda kept the target, it woulda been better if the 9 wasn't there. Then my slow prone felt funny, the sling was grabbing my skin, it never felt right. Well since i haven't handled the rifle since last month what do u expect? Still the score is in the solid middle of the master class now. So i'm content with that. MORE! i want MORE!!

Came home to Easter Lunch. Yum, Now i'm cleaning another rifle. cleancleanclean.

Oh i can't leave you without some badass video from japan's Cosplay event. The COStume PLAY event, where the anime crazed people of japan play dress up and meet at a convention center. You'll have your Final Fantasy Characters, Gundam Characters, whatevers your flavor anime characters. But these guys are the best!:

Theres no sound on this video, but just add that transformers sound and it'll be perfect! Screw the 3d animated stuff, this is the real deal!

Added the yelp bar on my side, i'm trying some scaling towards the sidebar scale but it didn't seem like it'll work. Bah! Looks like i'm gonna start yelping, if i remember the places i've been.

Happy Birthday New York Taxi! They turn 100, and in it's honor:
Introducing the Skyscraper Taxi...

1)How much is this special edition 9-ft tall cab with 30" spinners per 1/4 mile?
2)How do you get up into the cab?
At least the view is nice when stuck in all that traffic.

Today is sponsored by total geekdom:

Dood in England went on a slight remodelling frenzy on his condo. I know a few buddies who might be interested. Too bad it's sold already, i never did see the final amount on ebay. It was estimated to be from $200k-1million.

All that and no Bedroom?? what the??

And for us AD&D, and Palladium folk (who?) Screw the standard d6 (Geekspeek for 6 sided) fuzzy dice, it's all about the d20 fuzzy dice!

One more oddball tidbit:
Talk about Bugs Bunny Syndrome, remember the few episodes when bugs bunny defends his rabbit hole against the mongers who wants to build a freeway through his home? This is similiar! An Asian Couple refuses to leave their home whom the land around it was purchased by developers who want to build a mall.

Wouldn't it be nice to wake up and have a mall built around you? Shopping would be soo effortless.

Todays Dream: i dreamt that i was driving fluffielady's vehicle, i dunno if it was the Civic or the Rav4, but it was a white vehicle, but it had somekinda sportshift automatic transmission. Fluffielady's driving my car but i have no idea why. Both of us are driving on Ocean Blvd. But instead of it being a Blvd, it was more like a freeway, and in one direction with everybody driving at 60mph. Anyhow i felt the need to accelerate semi-hard and all of a sudden i see flames shooting out of the tailpipe. I was on 4th or 5th gear so i flick the shifter to 2nd but yet flames are still shooting out. Fluffielady comes up to me saying that my car doesn't turn right that well. i found it funny then i woke up.

Classic Americana Eh?:
i love defense lawyers. i love one especially, she likes to twist ANYTHING into innocence. a few memorable Quotes:
- 'my client needs to be released, he is 13 and rides a bike for fun dangit.'
- 'your honor, this is classic americana, this is what boys do what boys do.' (3 boys caught throwing rocks at elderly people and then figure that they could steal their stuff as well.)

Sold my soul, linking a link to a site and now i'm getting paid!

Good thing about the Nalgene is that it's not just any kinda green, it's Cash Money Green. Pimpcup project begins!

i just like to fly, and to see others flying brings great enjoyment.
But this is what i'm talking about. i wonder if the General Lee is astounded.

i remember when they changed body forms from the Subaru Impreza WRX STi-22.b To the new WRX body (2001 to 2004) that one improvement was the chassis was upgraded to withstand 6 times it's weight on impact, due to it's large suspension travel length (8"+) and stiff structure. Rally technology trickled down to the masses. Isn't that a beautiful thing? Thats why i like rally racing: a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine pumping 330+ horsepower, 300+ Ft/Lbs Torque, on a 1800pound chassis (with a carbon fiber shell) that can withstand multiple times it's own weight, using the most advanced All-wheel drive AND using sequential gearing, flying in the air, under a foot of water, in the snow or mud? $500k for a 'stock' rally car.. yum.. So why is NASCAR so cool?

Too bad the pilot (driver?) of this WRX won't tell us how far he went (100ft+). But it shows the weight distribution of the car is fairly even. Cars in flight (like you'll see many of those) will show you how balanced the car is since theres nothing holding it down. So a front heavy car (like Delilah) woulda started tilting forward after a few seconds of air. And that would be a bad thing, so no jumping for u Delilah!

Oh ya, start saving your money, the PlayStation4 is due to arrive approximately 2010. Who knows how much this puppys gonna cost and what it's gonna be capable of doing.
