Level Of Difficulty at Work: 1 out of 10
NapTime: Medium

Today i redished my rear wheel on the trek roadie. I think the driveside was too close to the center of the rim. Causing the chainline angle to be off and causing silly chain hopping sillyness. 1/2 turn of the nipples, lets see if that'll work..

I bought a Kingston 16GB 133x for the 7D and it writes and reads slower then the Standard Kingston 2GB (80x?). When the camera is started it takes some time (a few seconds) to figure out how many snapshots i have left. While the 2GB is instant. I just did a test where taking up the buffer of 9 shots it took 18.5 seconds on the 2gb but 1minute 34.5 seconds on the 16. Whats up with that?

I had 2 dreams as well:
1) I was teaching people either how to drive or shoot.
2) I just forgot.. dangit!

-Removed and replaced the Bottom Bracket on the Downhill bike. The bottom bracket chamber was pretty clean, not bad at all for all those times riding dirty. And it was easier to remove and install with proper tools! What a difference it makes!

-Cleaned up the kiddo's room a little. Trying to line all the ducks in a row..

Time During Lunch: Short

You know it's the end of the world when your neighbor is putting on his surfboard on the roof of his car as your installing the car seat on your car. Eminent doom is near!

-Fixed the broken spoke, as well as another with a messed up nipple. Road bike is ready to roll. Tomorrow i should have time to replace the bottom bracket on my downhill bike.

-Busted out the dremel tool and took off a few bits of hard plastic on this iphone case. Now my stubby fingers can reach, the charging connectors can connect, and the stock headphones have more room.

Man i'm tired, it's early to bed today.

Level Of Difficulty at Work: 0.5 out of 10
Time During Lunch: Medium

With two bicycles out of commission, i ride the last of my 26"ers, the Downhill bike. As i ride, i remembered that i haven't replaced the bottom bracket yet. So the ride up was crunchy, which was ok by me.

I replaced two spokes on the Rolf Road wheel, but i think i need to replace a third one. Then the road bike will be back! I don't like the Rolf hub, it's this funky weird design that looks more fashion then function. I could see future episodes with broken spokes because of it.

My brother came over with his new toy, the FN FNP-9. He just picked it up monday and came over to clean it (the manual says so), then shoot it, then clean it again. Riiight. So he did. We shot 2 boxes off and its a decent gun. It shoots point-of-impact, so it's slightly low for me.
Pros:
-Single Action at 25 yards was pretty impressive, two handed or not.
-Recoil isn't that bad, it's a snap but not much kick.
-Takedown is super easy, alot like a sig. Comaes apart into 4 pieces.
-My brother likes the fact that it came with a bit of accessories that FN is having a promotion on.
-Single Action is pretty good and crisp
-Look from the top of the firearm and you can see brass! Oooo
-Double action is sig smooth, pretty good for a metal on plastic gun, but theres a few exceptions (see Cons).

Cons:
-Trigger Reset is a bit far away.
-Double Action is REAL far away and it's mad heavy! Try it one handed, all i was thinking was 'pull, pull, pull, pull, come on, pull, pull, what the!, pull pull, bang!'
-The Mag release is a bit too flush to the frame, which rises to meet it. Quick mag changes will be a well learned skill.
-When there is no mag in the gun, the mag release looks and feels like it's an ambidex one, but it's not.. =\
-i hit the decocker by accident, it's easy to do.
-Theres no groove or cut outs for pulling out the mag on double feeds, wassup with that?

We both figured that if you can master the mag changes as well as the double action, you can rule any other firearm. i wonder if theres mods for it.

rockhopper is off to the shop. Jeff at ocean bikes remembers selling that bike 12 years ago and is wondering if I'm schemeing to upgrade my frame. Sorry dood I like the older things. It's to take about 3 weeks.
After the shop I sliced up my hair. It's been a while.

30min bicycle chop shop. Of course the stem-handlebar is in one piece but hey, my goal was to strip it to the frame. Tommorrows it'll be off to the bike shop to see if lifetime warranty means just that.
I think its one of the last crome-moly frames before specialized went to 6000-series aluminum.

One more on the list of items destroyed by my hands: My 1996 Specialized Rock Hopper Frame. And i did it by jumping a curb. I wonder if lifetime warranty works for this..

It was workable, i just had to ride with a list to the right. So i've broken or severely dinged almost every piece of a bicycle, except for front derailleur, that's a hard part to break since it doesn't do much. The worst part to break is the stem, it connects the handlebar to the frame and without that, its bad, trust me..

later the day fluffielady and i floated to the farmers market. It was kinda small but i got some russian grandma made piroshkies (2 for $5)and some grapes. We picked a few bunches of grapes, and the mom and pop kept giving us more even thought we paid already. Then she asked about our baby and started to give us even more fruit. Man they got some pretty sweet fruits, a gangload for 3$. There was even a knife sharpening dood, i had My Religion sharpened for $5, it's only been sharpened once before since 1989!

Level Of Difficulty at Work: 0.75 out of 10
Time During Lunch: Medium

This time riding up the hill to work i started huffing and puffing again, but i realized that i just gave double red. The ride was sorta tough but not chest paining like last blood letting. So am i more fit?

That was the road bike, the moto somehow decided to break my sideways license plate mount. I didn't know my plate was messed up until i did a right leaning curve and hearing scraping noises. Unexpected noises = somethings up. I'm thinking great, what now. I look to the rear right and see my license plate dangling. Lovely. I decide to drill another hole into a thicker part of the mount, but what does this do to me? It makes the bolt too short to reach. Why is life like this? Venture to the hardware shop down the hill. 81 cents later a M8 x 60mm 1.25pitch bolt cures all. For now.

Time for some dindins with my uncle. 8:30pm dinner?! man..

Things occuring here n there..
I awoken to an undescernable dream involving conversation. What kinda dreams are these? I also awake to sore shoulders and right calf, its only light to moderate soreness. I decide to ride to work and somehow the rear derailuer cable loosened, so i'm riding uphill on 3rd gear. I survive that and during work i smash my glasses in half, by cleaning them!

They just snapped, hows that for bendable titanium? Its kinda neat though that i have equally sized monoculars. A little artsy looking too. These glasses were purchased for 108$ at Optical4less.com, its a decent site from Hong Kong, but arrival time is about 2 weeks. I've also heard of Zenni Optical which i just found out is based here in San Rafael. They sport the 8$ glasses with 5$ shipping. I find another pair of bendable titanium with transition lenses. Similarly configured shipped for 65$! Madness! So for now i'm stuck with my Versaces, oh well, woe is i.

Man i'm weak. Road riding is a different beast.

A buddy who is really into road cycling asked if i wanted to play along in a 50 mile loop to n from sf to Tiburon or so. That was the reason why i installed the large chainring and derailuer (July 01 post). So in my usual getup, cotton shorts n t-shirt with a camelbak, i'm ready to roll. David rolls up in matching pro cycling getup, ahh yea this is gonna be fun. The first hill we hit was the o'shaughnessy climb, right then i knew my kung-fu was not strong. Crossing the bridge was a bit crazy, there are so many people riding now, back in my day, you could be the only one out there and see a few riders but not like this. We zoom into sausalito doing fine and upon reaching the end of sausalito i started feeling some cramping. Ok, sip some more h2o and continue on. It worked for a little then i get his with this giant cramp on my right leg, my calf decided to make a fist and not let go. I've had this feeling before, its not cool. David looks at me and asks is that water only, of course it is, thats all i bring for bike rides. I guess for road rides since your constantly pedaling its more aerobic, so you need the electrolytes n crap. I take a few sips of his stuff and decided to turn around, we are a little bit out there.
Going back home wasn't that bad but i had no speed whatsoever and at a few times not have any energy to pedal. Is that 'hitting the wall'? i think it is.
I had the hardest time getting back. I haven't had a long ride in years and a constant moving ride is a different style then a mountain bike where theres more navigation of the ground and its obstacles. Road riding you just keep going, and going and going. I wouldn't mind doing this for a bit, i need more exercise. Give me a few months, a few water bottles (they did go out of style in the mountain bike scene, but guess not for road) and gatorades and gu and i think i'll be pro again. But that leads to the final question, do i really want to go biker shorts and shirt? *cringe*. I've never owned a pair of shorts, i always said that i was sponsored by cotton.

Survived going home with a few tacos in the trunk of the moto. Banged out the front sight of the para and filed the new one to fit. I made a ghetto bench vice with a c-clamp and a piece of wood. This sight better work!

Right now at 10:26pm, my right leg still hurts. i may be feeling this tommorrow, wee!

Level Of Difficulty at Work: 0.2 out of 10
Time During Lunch: Medium

Lets see,
-Bought the Bottom Bracket for the FSR, a Square-Tapered sucker in 73x110 mm. Shimano has only 2 models for it, the LX ($30) and Alivio ($20). After this i might need to look into a new crankset!? ebay of course.
-Delilah passed her smog check, test-only. She is described as 'high emitter profile', oi!
-Washed Delilah after said smog check, the smokey dusty air laid this layer of ick on her. ScrubScrub.. Weee! All clean!

So being in facebook for a few days i've noticed one irritating thing. The neatness of the site is its ability to add applications to your profile. After viewing other peoples profiles some people have dozens of apps. My only irritation is if you want to play a game or watch a video, you need to add the app to your account and this further adds to your crap. Some apps are good for multi-use, others are lame. Who wants an app that list of babys that you have. How many can you get?
I can see how it can be addictive to be on that site all the time, tagging, poking, putting up notes on other peoples walls is nice. I must resist to once a day.

At work i binged up my pinky finger on my shooting hand (gasp!), i thought i just bumped my pinky against something. Well i look and its bleeding and half the nail is cut off, weak! Now it hurts annoyingly, so what do i do?
Go install a second chainring on my road bike as well as a front derailleur. I come to find that this single speed front is actually a triple-ring. So i coulda got an appropriate 3-speed derailleur instead of a 2-speed on ebay for 20$. But oh well, i never use the small chainring anymore. I wouldn't even know how to gear it. Right now i'm on a 42/53 toothed setup, i couldn't find any cheap large toothed chainrings on ebay, 15$ for this one! Now give me some 180mm length crankarms, that'll work me. A 42T is the largest ring on my mountain bikes. What a difference 10 pounds of metal and 5inches of suspension does to your gearing.

I decide to ride my bicycle, it has been at least a week since i last done so. So i ride and halfway up i notice that its getting a little hard to pedal. More than usual, so i continue and keep going. Right before i reach to the top, it's killing me, rapid breathing, chest pounding. Now it's not normal, what is going on?
Right then i realize that i'm low by 2-units of red blood cells. So is that what happens when this post-donation card says, 'when climbing stairs, have a friend help you.' Can i get a friend to help me up Teresita Blvd?

I had some vivid dreams but i don't remember any of it.

i've figured it out, how to fix the world in 2 easy steps.
1) This whole dang war thing is getting silly. Since it's all about Democracy, why doesn't the Iraqis vote for it. If they vote that the US bails then the President saves face saying whelp we tried and they voted, so off we go. And then the Democrats would be happy as well 'cuz well the war stopped. Lately theres too much spin on everything, can't the whole world just all get along?
2) Play the Sound of Music on TV again.. Where did the wholesome family values go?

Trials Bike Anyone?

Name of the game is not to put your foot on the ground while going through the course. Of course this guy is just practicing. If you can walk or stand on it, so can the trial bike specialist. i wanna do this..

Via Technologies comes out with their smallest Form Factor Motherboard using their C3 1ghz chip called the Pico-ITX.

The actual motherboard is smaller than the CD it's sitting on! It's as small as a 2.5" laptop harddrive. i thought Nano-ITX was small, people were making pc's out of a Soccer Ball and the one size higher the Mini-ITX toasters and Attache Case with LCD monitor, thus making it a laptop of sorts.
Smaller and smaller baby! woot!

And now for something that'll make your heart leap up into your throat. I wish i was up there in Canada riding one of these in my prime days of mountain biking.

The stories go that up in British Columbia on the North Shore are these daredevils who like to mountain bike. But then the county of sorts decides that mountain bike trails are too damaging to the environment. So these guys said ok, we'll BUILD the trails ABOVE the trails and you see there is some of the teeny tiny wooden bridges that are 4 tire widths wide. It takes alot of hard work, planning, blood sweat and tears to create a run like that. And if the rangers take down the run, they've gotta rebuild somewhere else.. again..
I do love good singletrack, technicals too.. But those jumps are slightly sketchy..

Yesterday we got busy. At 6:30am my brother comes over and the silliness begins. Evans on Turkey Duty, Fluffielady is decorating and i'm the rest, whatever it is. Fluffieladys parents come over fairly quickly, they left at 5:30am and arrived around 10:30am or so. Alot better then 2 years ago, it was a madhouse drive. Turkeyday is the worse driving period for LA and Highway 5. I find it quite funny, everybody in LA heading towards the Bay Area, and everybody in the Bay Area heading towards LA.

We do this.. Table Ready..

Man can you say Food Coma.. There was ALOT of butter involved i this one.

Uh, we need milk. Wherecha wanna put it?

Today:
We all just hung out n was lazy. We don't do the Black Friday Sillieness, nada. Anyhow theres nothing to get in the first place.

And since my '97 Specialized AIM was retired. My original intent was to have it hanging on the Fireplace Mantle. But Noooo, someone had to override my decorating ideas. At least that someone was ok with my bike hanging on the stairway. Yep, hanging. 25Lb Test line should work on this 4-6Lb Frame right?
Tommorrowz our new washer and dryer is to be delievered.
