Moon over Diamond head.

Merp, last day chillin here at the beach. After surviving the night with a burnt back we kinda kept away from the sun. We did go out and hid in the shade on an unusually windy and high surf day.
Later the day we headed to Ruth's Chris for Father-in-law's birthday. Last year we were in a cruise ship from Alaska and it was his birthday. Hmm where will he be next year.. The food is pretty good, tad bit on the cash side and a lil too fatty / buttery, which is what the meat is sitting on. At least the sides are quite large, feeding about 1.5-2 people, we shoulda known, with 5 sides. After eating the pricy meal we walked a little to the pier where the picture above was taken and waiting oh, 10 minutes for the Hilton Friday Fireworks Action.

BoomBoom
Oi, sleep, wake up for a 9:30am shuttle, noon flight, and arrive home at 9pm. ugh

Online Dating

Man, it's only rated PG since my blog contains 2 words: Gun (x3) and Hurt. Click on the pic to see what your blog is rated. My brothers is rated G, even though he's got a bit of interesting expletive verbage.

Oh i forgot to put up a dream i had 2 days ago. I dreamt that i was golfing with the gang. My dad was trying to teach me and i was taking practice swings all over, since i've never golfed. The course was some whacky uphill sloped mass of grass. Then i wake up.

Today we didn't do much by lay out on the sands. Snorkled a bit, but there weren't many fishies floating around. It was also low tide and the water was a bit murky. Way out from the beach was about 8" to a foot deep, i wasn't swimming, i was crawling.
We also laid out a *bit* on an extended time, and now we're a bit toasted, glowing red toasted. It burns!!, just a little..

Today we headed to Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial, we just breezed by and hung out there for a little and it was off to the Coliseum where the great swap-meet takes place. The swap-meet is held on saturday, sundays and wednesdays. It forms a ring around the outside of the stadium and theres a whole lotta stuff being sold. At least it's not junk. It's a gangload of stalls selling such wares as: 8 tshirts for 20$, 200$ ukuleles, macadamian nuts, lotions, junk toys, cheesy car stereos / subwoofers, and whole coconuts, pineapples and other goodie fruits. I bought a boonie hat in a funky digital camo, and a pound of macadamian nuts, i shoulda got the garlic flavored ones. Fluffielady got a few of those turtle shaped jewelry.

Hanging on the trail to the Manoa Falls

After walking the stadium ring, went towards the university of Hawaii and into the Manoa Falls. 2 years ago, it was empty, and nobody was around. Now theres 5$ parking and someone watching the lot with free mosquito spray. It was a bit humid and warm but the hike wasn't wet and wild like 2 years ago. Also the trail is now a bit more taken care of. I call it too commercialized. Anyway, the 4 of us made it to the top and the falls was more like a trickle. Just like at home, there wasn't much rainfall as well at Hawaii in the winter and spring.

Manoa Falls, it wasn't as flowing as it was 2 years ago.

After sweating it up, went back to the hotel and returned the rental car early. Now where to go for dindins.

Sunset at the North Beach

Today we roamed around the Ala Moana Mall. Ate at Ruby Tuesdays, and bought a bit of clothing. Last time we bought something on sale at Burberry and fluffielady signed up on their mailing list. Well we get their mailings at home of sales of that one store in hawaii. What kinda mailing list is this?

After Ala Moana, we headed to the North shore. Mainly to the town of Hale'iwa, and to some random beach that we called the sesame seed beach. I had to stop at the Matsumoto Grocery Store, which is a shack of a place but they sell Shaved ice with Ice cream in the bottom, it's soo good. Mango and Guava is all i need!
While roaming around the North shore we saw minivan city, as well as cat city, a gang of cats sitting around a dumpster mean mugging us. At the beach we snorkled and saw a gaggle of fishies as well as eels and one mean territorial fish. That fish would swim towards you and go after you. It swam towards me, looked at me as i was looking at it. It was looking aggressive, and i swam one way and it swam another. Fluffielady had a more personal experience with it. The fish though were about 10 feet into the water!
Fishies!!

The torches of the polynesian center.

Got the rental car, i find it funny that a Toyota Corolla is now an 'intermediate' size, 1 size below full sized. It's a bit zippy due to the gearing but it's the super base model, not that it matters. But i like how the rental companies get you with the guilt of their additional insurance. They actually showed me the door locks to acknowledge that it has not been tampered with, yet. They told me about avoid the west side of the island, theres a bunch of people living in stolen minivans. Heck while driving to the Polynesian Cultural center we saw one of the tent-city, where it used to be a beach parking lot, but now it's overran by these cars with tents attached to them and bunches of people just living there.

If you ever go to the polynesian center it's all about the Samoan guy demonstration. The center is owned by the mormons of Brigham Young university and gives scholarships from the money raised by the center. Students work at the center and get compensated by room and board and all that jazz. The center has a bunch of different polynesian islands represented there, but the Samoan one is the main one to go. The main dood does it all, gives you a little lecture, afterwards sells a bit of art that he photographs, then he performs at the end of the show tossing a staff with both sides lit on fire. He was there two years ago when we first went, still cracking the same jokes. One joke was that he was talking about the school and how it helps polynesians with scholarships, he points out how he was and still is a student. Student for life!
One weird thing about the center. Last time we took the free bus shuttle over and it took 2 hours, you got alot of info about hawaii and what not and it was ok. But driving it took a little more than an hour because now it's 19$ a person for the shuttle! Doh!

Hung out with Cousin David at the Royal Hawaiian Sheraton's Very tasty and $$ brunch. I've slowed down on my buffet action but i had to go at it here. It was a mish-mash of american food, japanese food, and the requisite seafood. We hung out and they had quite a bit of mai-tai's and other libations. Most excellent.

I have to say though, i like being in hawaii because all of a sudden i'm either: Japanese, Hawaiian, any of the many polynesians but never chinese. Man whats up with this? No i don't want to shoot at the waikiki gun club or to mahalo my way out of an ABC store. Jeez!

Chillin in Hawaii.

Forgot to take a pic of the view from the hotel but i'll be sure to update it. I think Waikiki is now wireless, so thats pretty pimpin from the 12th floor of our hotel. Todays journey was a bit jinxed. It begins with the shuttle being 30min late. At the airport American Airlines doesn't have normal check-in. It's all computer assisted check-in, which is in itself a normal check in without a few questions. If you check in luggage you still need to show the guy behind the counter ID so that he makes sure the luggage tags follow you. Since theres no 'normal' line, everybody is lost looking for where to go. I decide to go into the self check-in and we're standing there and one of the counter clerks tells us to go over to another line. I get to the other line and it's the international check-in, ticket purchase, customer service line. So i'm confused and figure that the lady kicked us out of the newly normal line. So we walk back and she sees us and asks where are we going, we say hawaii and she points to the line where she kicked us out. So i say out loud, you just kicked us out of this line! She got stunned and walked away, and as luck would have it (had the same luck with lines and agents), the lady was the one who checked our ID's and tagged our bags. That went way better than last time.
We get to the plane and they just started boarding, we get in and a lady in front of us was telling us that she saw a sign saying that theres no food service, go buy your own. Gee thanks, we're on the gangway going into the plane. She was wrong and we had to buy a crossiant sandwich for the each of us. The worse part was as luck would have it, 2 boisterous and loud kids ages 18 months and 4 years old. Man were they loud, especially during landing where the ears are popping and that 18 month old was screaming like a banshee during the entire landing sequence.
Get to the around hotel @ 1:30pm and room wasn't ready which wasn't a big deal. Got food and walked a little around the beach, by the time we got back rooms were ready to roll. Hung out for a little and went into the water. I need to take daily pictures of my arm to see the color gradiation with the sun. funfunfun!
So we're gonna be here for a week and the first half we have an event per day. We're renting a car to roam the island and try to find a shrimp truck. Shrimp trucks are like the Taco / Burrito Trucks roaming around the bay area. My goal is to just sit around and maybe snorkel out there and get used to ocean swimming. If i get used to that surfing may be in my horizon but i doubt it. Where the heck am i gonna fit all that gear? Another hobbie? Ugh.
And yep, we've been to the ABC store 3 times already!

Dream:

i dreamt that i was transporting 2 fellows all chained up down the street (oddity #1). After a block or so the 2 decided to split and hopped off to this corner of a building next to a few old school newspaper machines. When i got over there one guy was kneeling on a cell phone and another looked like he was loading a handgun while prone (oddity #2 + 3). I told them both to stop and drop and with that i tossed a stun grenade that was shaped like a real grenade (Oddity #4). I went around the corner and waited. The grenade landed next to the handgun guys head and it went off. I came around and both were lying on the ground, i kicked the firearm to the side and then noticed that both were dead (oddity #5). Ahh great, it's 20 minutes to shift change and its all gone downhill. So i'm doing the report and then someone tells me that they are alive and i wake up.
I think i'm either working too hard (howdooidoodat?) and i'm playing too much battlefield2 with my brother and his 3 friends. Which makes it quite a fun firing squad! We need one more to complete the 6 man squad, anyone?

Ahhh yea new toy..

The FN SLP Mark-1

Fluffielady would always ask what i want in life, to eat, a destination, a reason and every answer of mine would be one word. Shotgun! I had one a while back in my college days a Pump Mossberg 500, it was 199 from big5. A sturdy chunky thing that the forearm rattled. Anyhow i was starting to become a precision type of guy and sold the thing to my coworker who wanted one. I think about 100 rounds were fired off that one.
With me diddling in ipsc and 3-gun (once in a while). There came for a need in 3-gun for a shotgun (duh, 3-gun is pistol-rifle-shotgun). While i never did do the shotgun portion of it (most matches used 2 of the 3-guns). It intrigued me to want to try it out. Also with that silly law looming over gun owners i went ahead and purchased one in case things go sideways and get banned.
Now i coulda got the revered Benelli, but at around $1100 that hurt as well as the mods needed for speed shooting. After reading around the benelli is a little hard on the recoil since it's recoil operated. The reason why i got this was 1) i happen to find it cheap, about 200$ less than average priced. 2) it came spec'd for speed shooting, i just need to learn how to speed load though. 3) it's not any older but theres a newer model thats lighter but costs also in the $1000 range as well. 4) it's got speed! Faster in mechanical terms against the benelli. 5) It comes with a bunch of extra parts! Nifty!
Browning Bought the Winchester line of firearms, Browning outsources manufacturing to such places as FN. Thus the Winchesters exact twin to this FN is called the Winchester SX2. Well theres a newer version called the SX3 where the receiver and tube are different metallic materials (aluminum vs steel).

This is winchesters commercial for their sx3:

Can you say, daaang..
When i get to open range, hopefully i can record some of this.

Dream:

This one is quite a beautiful dream with the outdoors, and fresh air. It begins with a coworker Peter, and I riding our bicycles up a dirt fireroad. I was telling Peter that i didn't know if i wanted to ride (off-road) seriously again. So we're pedaling up this path and meet up with a girl whos also riding. The girl also doesn't know if she should go full time riding or not. So the three of us reach the top, it turns into a singletrack with real deep ruts and hairpin turns. I'm riding on the sidewalls swinging to n fro as the narrow twisty track S's around and down. Singletrack and Technical trails are my thing so i get a big smile out of this and this leads me to continue to ride.
Too bad i never got the girls name, she was kinda hot!

Whelp that was easy,
The Rav4 is done up with new rotors and brakes and fluffielady likes the new stopping power. The rear pads have at least 85% left and all it needed was some adjustment.
Tirerack Rotor + Pads = $185
Labor = $160

Haha sucker!

Level Of Difficulty at Work: nada, skipped work.
Time During Lunch: zip

Helped out fluffielady pack up the classroom with 3 huge boxes of stuff (anyone want a microwave?). Said goodbye to a few pplz, then ran like no other, actually there was a bunch of people who ran preemptively. i'm slightly saddened that fluffielady had to go, but the turning point for me was a coworker of hers 1 or 2 years ago told her 'this place is not good for your health,' and she passes away a month later from cancer. Thats a serious sign. In the wise words of the B.O.B.s in Bungie's Marathon (waaay before Halo) "Get Me Outta Here!"
I guess for me though the overtime dance begins. doh!
We met up with an ex-coworker who bailed from the school a year before. Shes doing fine while being 3 months preggo. Hung out and got back home around 1pm.
Fluffielady tells me about her brakes vibrating and grinding when she presses on them. So i consult with my brother and we figure it's warped rotors and jacked brake pads. Well, i go look at the rotor and it's all grooved up. I'm glad i bought some Brembo Rotors and Hawk HPS pads to be installed tommorrow. If i remember i'll take a pic of the rotor, it's self slotted!! But the best thing is tirerack.com. I ordered online, next day i get a purchase confirm as well as a UPS tracking. When i look up the UPS tracking it says that they've been notified and it hasn't been picked up yet. Look up the Tracking number the next day and it says it's delivered at the door. Sweet..

Thanks to the crew for coming over and partying the pre-birthday action. All i gotta say is, the older i get, the more i sneeze like my father.
Thanks to da fluffielady for setting up the setup, she likes that type of stuff, a mini-semi-homemade Sandra Lee (on the food network) of sorts.
Thanks to Vicks for the Wii, silly gameage going on there.
It was a fun night, fluffielady wants to do more of such events, meeting up with the crew is hard lately with conflicting schedules n what nots.

Now with the leftovers , we have 12 days to eat everything we have in the fridge so that we can defrost it. The only thing i hate is the stupid sauces that need to be refridgerated after opening, i mean i can only use so much oyster sauce at a time, i should just drink the sucker. At least we got some goodies like frozen lumpias that we picked up at costco, yum!

Hows your touch-typing skillz? Test your might on the Fingerjig
a guy in merry ol' england has a flash game involving multiple sequences of typing. A test for left handed words, then right handed etc. And combines all the scores into one. The average is 476,000, i scored 862,700. Top scorers are in the 1-2 million! Woo.

I find it funny that the 1.5 years that i've worked in court only once have i hear a defense lawyer tell their client that you're screwed, i can't defend you, you should take any deal. I betcha it happens more often then what i've experienced, but some lawyers must go the extra mile to try to win on a technicality or some ultra minute detail that could set their client free. It's fun to watch sometimes and all i gotta say is, try as you might, it ain't gonna work. To me the proper phrase is 'a waste of judicial economy.'
Thanks for the show though, good try.

oookay..
Oi, i knew something was wrong, at first i thought someone spammed the crap out of my old school email account during the 3 day weekend so ok. It was the one time where i depended on the email for a UPS tracking number. So two weeks go by and i had to call tech support.
Techie: Hello?
Me: yes, i've been having a problem getting any emails for the past 2 to 3 weeks.
Techie: Ohhh we sent out an email saying that we're shutting down our operations.
Me: WHAT?! i never got this email thats why i'm calling.
Techie: Yeah, we sent an email in march, did you check your spam folder maybe?
Me: i didn't see any email from the admin in any folder
Techie: Ohhh ya we sent out the email, theres no more email now.
Me: theres no way i can get the last of my emails?
Techie: Sorry, can't you get the other person to send it again.
Me: Holy @#!%, now i gotta redo all my webaccounts that use this email, man i gotta go.
Techie: ok, thank you.

At least the email account was free, but since i've had it at least 8 years it kinda sucks to lose it. I'm glad i downloaded the emails onto my computer, actually i still have emails from my college days on Eudora 3.0 pro for mac. But the one time i needed it, man..
So i've informed some peoples, if you wanna contact me i have an address here, and with the silly spam i get on this email it's bearable, the latest email title says: "do you know what erectile dysfunction is?" If you don't know you 1) you haven't experienced puberty yet so the email would be useless to you, 2) english is not your language so the spam is unreadable, 3)it has nothing to do with erector sets being faulty.

So what was the email that i was waiting, i'll tell yall in a future posting.

So todays court word of the day is: Gangy - in ganglike essence. "Your Honor my client was involved in a fight that was somewhat gangy."
Brilliant.

Off to go bang again:
200 Yard Slow Offhand: 184-4x
200 Yard Rapid Sitting: 94-3x
300 Yard Rapid Prone: 100-7x (Thats Pro!)
600 Yard Slow Prone: 97
Total: 475-14x
Song in the brain: Live Orchestra of Final Fantasy VII Songs.

Ahh yea typical overcast day, grey all over the place, but thats cool for shooting both for target as well as photographs! Tried out the service rifle sling and it worked excellently on the rapid prone. My offhands coulda been better but i think i'm overholding them for at least 2 or 3 shots. Overholding = bad.
When i sighted in at the rapid prone shots were going low 6 and 7 o'clock 10's, so i clicked 2 up and landed with this:

10-shot group: 1.7695" center to center
Smallest 3-shot group: .35" @ 200 yds!
Smallest 5-shot group: .65"

i think i'm reaching the limit of the rifles capability of .5" at 100yds. The prone was one of those that felt natural if thats an easy way to explain it. The rhythm and position resetting came all together right on target. Now if i can do this more often on the other positions, that'd rule. My sitting involved a touch of muscling which is bad, so Overholding is bad, Muscling is bad and overholding + muscling is the worse!
So i guess things are going well if people start accusing me of cheating. i don't cheat, i just pay the scorer well. heh

Getting home fluffielady was setting up for the home party:

Come on over!

Chillin in a typical San Francisco Summer Picnic:

A coworker of mine had a picnic party of sorts at the Zeum celebrating his sons 1-year birthday. With the fog and moderate to sometimes gusts of wind, it sometimes blew the food away. But it was cool, TONS of kids. I like the squishy ground stuff thats in the playground. What i don't get is that there are a few areas where fountains (if they work) drain their water into these patterns cut in the concrete but land onto the sand. Maybe they wanted a beach-like experience? Build Sand Castles?

Wanna ride? it's supposed to say: "One Coming Down!"

After, went home bought some groceries. Fluffielady is looking at some Laptops, but she always seems to have a taste for the 2800$ ones. Great!

Is this fair:
Say your a female teen in high school a 3.0 average, never been in trouble, your not a drughead, yet theres someone who doesn't like you. So since they don't like you, you don't like them and it's mutual, but you leave each other alone for the most part. Say one day this person who doesn't like you approaches you with 2 other of her friends and starts calling you names. So you back up first wondering whats going on, then they jump you. You take a few hits but unknowing to them you know kung fu and break the girls jaw. In court Ms. Drink-Soup-Through-A-Straw admits to starting the fight. You get charged with assault with a deadly weapon and she avoids any charges. Is this fair?

It's been a while so lets see:
DishNetwork is pretty cool, DVR is cool, i'm trying to figure what to save since i rarely watch TV. One of the reasons why i wanted to try dish was to get the SPEED channel. Unfortunately the SPEED channel shows NASCAR (ick), theres a few Motorcycle stuff that comes on at 1am (what the DVR is for), but wheres the drifting or rally racing?!! I got a HDMI to DVI-D cable at my favorite place BlueJeansCables.com And at 1080i i can't watch the news anymore, Ross McGowan wears a hearing aid and some other newscasters have wrinkles and freckles, where did all this come from?! HD is too good! Theres one channel which is shown at audio/video places where bands play and it shows how detailed things are. Well while flipping the channels i saw this channel and whoever the 80's rocker dood was, i saw quite a bit of detail on his armpits. Very nice.

In other news my brother has been in seclusion for the past few months all in preparation for the CFA Level 1 test, and tommorrow is d-day. Wish him luck!
