Moto News:
-37780 miles, rear pads replaced, front and rear fluids replaced with fresh ATE superblue. The old stuff was watery!

Little Housekeeping:
-At 37661 miles, the moto went in for a new set of tires. This time they were Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. They feel pretty good, and on the curves it feels like it wants to drop to the side even more! The 2nd set of diablos lasted less then 10k!?! The first held for 12k!
Now if i have the time to do a brake fluid flush and rear brake pad replacement. Soon..
-The shifter cable broke at the shifter on the FSR. A week or so ago i was experiencing wierd shifter play. I'd shift but nothing would happen and then all of a sudden a gear change. Today while riding up i shifted and heard a snap. i thought it was the shifter being old, but it was the cable instead. 3$ replacement, 5minutes, lets see how it holds.

I think i went too fast shooting. I did reset a few times and saved a few points that way. But i also had 2 duds that eventually went off. Silly Eley ammo!

Oi, it's 37.5k miles on the moto, and i'm starting to see threads on the rear tire.. ai! time for another set, what to do, what to get.. It's been 10k since the last pair

I'm using eley sport. a mexican made Eley, with the same weed powder, but at a way lower price. It's comparable with other rounds, shoots well for me. I did have one round that sounded out of whack, but then i scored pretty well. The funny part is another guy bought the same stuff but wasn't impressed with it. He went with Federal Automatch, which is what i used last year. Good stuff, either way. Automatch is 1200fps, the Eley 1085fps.
Zen shooting was enabled again, how funny it's been a year and it comes back just like that.

Down to the cam cover. What lies underneath is spooky!
Yesterday i started on this:
Cross my fingers, hope that this worked out well. My first attempt at doing the major service on my moto. It seemed easy to do, but too easy at the same time.
I took the time to read up some online sites on how to do a valve check or adjustment. It seemed easy enough.
The moto hits 36k and i went for it, i thought i had all the tools needed but went to my brothers for a few more special tools that helped out quite a bit.
-Taking off the tank felt funny, but it was easy to do, a few hoses and an electrical connector. Was it going to leak, what do i do with the gas, blahblah. You do nothing, it sits there cuz the fuel pump is closed.. *phew*
-Airbox was easy enough, cleaned and relubed the BMC filter.
-Carburetors, i thought the instructions were off but all it took was 3 screws and some lifting to remove it. More hoses.. It looked pretty clean on the inside, the outside thought was all gunky.
-Hardest part, was the valve cover. Well, it's not that hard, loosen 6 bolts and remove the cover. As i'm removing the cover the rubber gasket is stuck, all i know is yanking such items is never good. So i carefully peel it all out, and didn't think much of it. It'll haunt me till today.
-Tappets, a cap that sits on a shim that sits on the valve. i used the feeler gauges at the TDC and BDC points to see the clearances of each tappet. Theres 16 total. The limits were for Exhaust .2-.3mm, Intake .1-.2mm. If any were larger then the limits, then i'd need to take the moto apart even further, adding to the complications. Luckily they are all pretty well spec'ed.
Every Exhaust tappet was slightly under .2 at .178, which is good enough for me.
Intake Tappets: (1).127,.127 (2).127,.127 (3).102,.102 (4).127,.102
-Phew, put the rubber gasket back on, ok, put the carbs back on, how do you do it? oh well, just press a litle and tighten bolts. ok, put the airbox on, hmmz the vents don't fit the airbox.. The carbs weren't totally in place. Remove n fix. ok.. Airbox on. alright, gas tank on ok.. my main concern was the hoses, there were so many and i couldn't remember where goes what, so after handling the munchkin a few times and rereading the service manual a few times it worked out. It felt too easy..
-Changed the spark plugs, oil, coolant and cleaned, oiled and tightened the chain a little..
-It's 9pm when finished. Put the key in, it starts up. Sweet it works, let it sit, 'lo n behold i see a puddle forming under the bike.. ahh crap. One is murky n black, the other smells like gasoline.. ^%$!!!
-Woke up today and found out i needed gasket sealant, one thats flexible and anaerobic. Kragen has them, kragen has 12 of them.. Got the right one, went back, took everything apart again, and reinstalled with sealant.. Turn the moto on, and now only the gas tank leaks.. fantastic! Why, how, it leaks i dunno. I play with the tubing and clamp, it made it worse. i play with it one last time and no more leakage! That pump must shove gas out pretty strongly to have leakage like that!
-This time turned it on for a while, let the coolant cycle and saw no more leakage. Sweet! Rode it around the block, it felt pretty good.
Hopefully tommorrow will be the test to see if it all comes together, when i ride to work..
I can now see why a major motorcycle service costs so much (600-800$), it's all into tearing into the bike just to stick a thin piece of metal inbetween the cam and tappet to see if shims need to be replaced. Other then that, everything else is simple. I'm glad i didn't need to do that. That'll involve removing the cams and the tappets, ouch!
-Also took out a few things on this blog that wasn't working..
-Also i made a pretty tasty Guava cake!

On friday the moto's battery was zoinked. So a replacement was bought, also bought were rear LED turn signals to replace the one that broke when the bike tipped over.. Weak! 35508 miles
After that the familia roamed off to Livermore where it was 109 degrees.. Caliente!

Time During Lunch: Zero
Yesterday i was supposed to get my chain and sprockets changed for the moto. I arrive and they ask, 'wheres the parts, you were to supply them?' I look at them blankenly. So a reschedule was to today. I bring the moto today and 340$ later, it purrs again. I ask whats the average lifespan of chains and sprockets, Jen says around 12k. I feel pretty good knowing that its been 16k. Same with tires, they usually go in 7-10k, but mine last 12k+.
Work has been getting a little weird. Its hard to explain.

Time During Lunch: Medium
The moto was making some thunking noises, at first it might be my gearbox. Then i thought it was the clutch. Then i realize that my chain is all messed up. I need to take care of the chain more but it's been 17k miles since it's installation. I decide to degrease and lube the chain. As i'm degreasing, i notice the rear sprocket has a few chipped teeth. This is not a good sign, so i call up werkstatt and schedule an appointment. I did buy a chain when the moto reached 32k miles. Ahh yea funfun.
i can see why the iphone is something business folk wouldn't like. Currently theres no way on an stock iphone to save files into a certain location. Also on the stock mail program theres no way to search for email address or title. I had to use the google app to use the search functions. It needs a word processor or office suite. The jailbroken version has installers that remind me of those for linux. I can see OpenOffice apps, since the iphone is linux in camo.

Lets see,
-Bought the Bottom Bracket for the FSR, a Square-Tapered sucker in 73x110 mm. Shimano has only 2 models for it, the LX ($30) and Alivio ($20). After this i might need to look into a new crankset!? ebay of course.
-Delilah passed her smog check, test-only. She is described as 'high emitter profile', oi!
-Washed Delilah after said smog check, the smokey dusty air laid this layer of ick on her. ScrubScrub.. Weee! All clean!
So being in facebook for a few days i've noticed one irritating thing. The neatness of the site is its ability to add applications to your profile. After viewing other peoples profiles some people have dozens of apps. My only irritation is if you want to play a game or watch a video, you need to add the app to your account and this further adds to your crap. Some apps are good for multi-use, others are lame. Who wants an app that list of babys that you have. How many can you get?
I can see how it can be addictive to be on that site all the time, tagging, poking, putting up notes on other peoples walls is nice. I must resist to once a day.

High power action: It ain't working for me. =\

Sunny and warm day with no wind at all. The match was a smaller one as well with only 13 people blasting away, just like last month. How odd. My standing sucked, i was going back and forth from a X or 10 to a 8. My sitting blows again, but i think that is where i need to focus on. As to my blurb last month on going all out for the high master class, i dunno anymore. hah!
After getting home, i did an oil change on Delilah, she turns 100k miles. woot!
Enough of that crap, on with the Alaskan stitches.
The quarter way point in Denali National Park. Tour buses only. Wake up at 4am, cram yourselves onto a bus and sit for a 6 or 8 hour tour (feels like forever either way). You play the game of shout out loud to stop the bus if you see anything, mostly we didn't see much except for a few spots. We saw bald eagles, brown bears, dall sheep, and caribou at a far off distance. This stop lasted a whole 15 minutes and the driver didn't give a hoot if she left ya.
Halfway point on the bus tour. Its pretty but i guess its the first turnaround and rest area.
All this time in the summer it just looked barren, it wasn't the snow capped mountains until we reached Seward, the last of our land journey. This pano was made while wandering around the city before hopping onto the cruise ship.
In the water, first day of 2 seabound, heading towards a glacial bay. Beh, its water.
Cruise Ship Parking at Juneau. Park your cruise ship and get offloaded onto a Pier39-ish land.
I tried a few others and it didn't work, or somehow i had missed a section to stitch. Oh well, like i knew i was going to do this.

Level Of Difficulty at Work: 0.25 out of 10
Time During Lunch: Medium
Yesterday i went to the dentist for a check up, the odd thing was once i scheduled my time to go in the week before, i get this dull pain in my jaw. It went away until yesterday, it comes back. What a perfect time to tell my dentist. So i do, and he finds that one of my wisdom teeth which had a filling on it, must have decayed off from around it. Lovely, so a reschedule for today to take care of it.
Well out comes the drill and with minimal drilling my dentist looks at me and says, have you felt and other pain other than yesterday and the week before? I tell him no, why? He tells me that the decay isn't wide but deep, so deep he can see the nerves. Hes always made fun of it being time for me to be unwisened, but never does it. Now its becoming more reality. Back in my youth i'd like to keep it all, but with it being real hard to keep clean, i'm not as sure anymore. Its only that one tooth thats bad, the others are ok, and i've focused on cleaning the back forever now. So he decides to seal it one last time, if it goes, then thats it. Its ok, my wisdom has been dwindling for a while now, and age has not made up for it, yet..

Today was quite busy. Woke up at 7am, did some photoshopping of a photo fluffielady wanted. I was kinda ghetto done but it can pass sorta. For 15minutes of work, it'll pass.
-Went to the range for some pop pop around 9:15 to 11am. My shotgun split times are still around .18-.2 seconds. Beh, it's cool for hitting a target. My goal was to leave around 10:30-10:40. But 2 coworkers were having target hitting issues. One was squeezing all his fingers when firing (hits low and left) and the other released his finger too fast after the shot broke (hits to the low and right).
-Got home at 11:15, got ready for bri n kimz baby showa.
-11:40am picked up a package for fluffielady.
-12:10pm arrived at foster city, let the games begin. Kim is showing quite a bit now. Chucky is putting himself in a partial police academy. J, Sherwin, Bert, came with the addition of Roz, Robyn n Jivis busting a cameo. Jivis is still all knocked out throughout.
-3:30pm began work on Bri's moto, it WAS supposed to be an easy task. Oil and filter change. But the battery was dead, ok replaced it, easy. Bike doesn't start up. It's fuel injected so it's supposed to be all auto done. Manual advised against push starting, or any kinda unscrupulous methods for carburetor'd motors. We proceed to install some flush mounted turn signals. Fricking body panels are a jigsaw , requiring a jillion bolts in all kinds of places. I got those fitted while trying to turn the moto here and there. After a while the new battery started to fade. I don't think that battery was at full power.
-6:30pm done, minus 2 bolts that refuse to return to it's place, Some bolts were really redundant. 5 bolts where the 3 fairing panels meet? and 2 on each end piece under the frame? I thought hondas were supposed to be all user friendly.
-7pm eat at Mimi's with sherwin. Bananas Foster mud pie is crazyhuge!
-Afterwards, roamed the target. They sell mighty putty there!
-Got home around 8:something. Went online and talked to my brother about getting a new cell phone etc. My 4-year old is getting silly on me. At times the battery would fade from half full to empty, and the alarm clock with my peaceful wake up music wouldn't play, once it only played 3 notes and silence. Time for a new phone!
-Going to bed around 11:30pm, kinda rare. nini

My brothers buddy bought a '98 GTi-VR6 twin of Delilah awhile ago and loves it. But at 142k miles, his is a little rougher and slightly more beaten than Delilah in maintenance. One of the things he heard of on the vwvortex.com forums is a mystery sauce called SeaFoam. It's been around since 1942 and is like a pipe cleaner for motors for 6-7$. The bottle states that you can put it in your oil, gas tank, even into the intake manifold. It supposedly cleans out the gunk, crap, caked in carbon, removes moisture, cleans all kinds of fuel systems, cures pinging, does everything! Sounds too good to be true? Yet theres alot of people talking about it as a "6$ tune up in a bottle", and it's the best thing in the world. My brother and i were kinda sketchy on this do all in a bottle type stuff.
So the idea is this: 1/3 can into the gas tank, 1/3 can into the oil and the final third into the intake manifold.
I think putting it in the gas is the easiest thing to do. Put it in your oil and you'll need to run it for 100-250 miles and change your oil, so if you decide to seafoam it in your oil, stick it in before an oil change. As for the intake manifold, it takes slightly more attention to detail:
1)Find a vacuum line into the manifold
2)With a warmed up car, slowly suck up, using a good air/fluid mix, the 1/3 can into the manifold.
3)Turn off car and let it sit for 5minutes.
4)Run car, which results in huge plumes of smoke going through the whole engine.
5)Drive
After the whole smokin session, we drove around a little bit and the car sounds quieter, smoother and He notes that there used to be a slight throttle hiccup at idle is gone. The engine doesn't work as hard and therefore 'easies on emissions'.
I have a bottle for Delilah, and since shes in mid-oil change cycle i'll wait. Since i don't drive her enough i'll put it in the gas tank when i head out to tahoe or something.

Lets see what did i do after work.
Changed the oil on the Rav4, 60k!
Recharged the SeaChem Purigen Packet for the fishtank. It's kinda neat, you buy this packet of what looks like whtie sand, stick it in your fish tank filter. The packet absorbs bad stuff and the white sand turns brown. Whenever you feel like working it, it's a 3-step process which takes 2 days to do. 1 24-hr bleaching, 1 8-hr recharge, and 1 4-hr ph balance. Then the sand turns back to it's original color and pop it back into the filter. This is my second recharging, it lasts for a few months or so. About the same time as a charcoal filter replacement, or whenever you feel like playing with the fishie tank. The Fish are happy 'cuz swimming in your own pee isn't all that enjoyable.

Time During Lunch: Short
-Bought a box of 100 Knape and Vogt 256's from ebay for $19. Used 2 so far. I think i should sell sets of 10 back on ebay. A box from an online shop would be 17$ + 10$ shipping.
-Bought a replacement right mirror for the Gixxer on ebay of course. When it arrived i thought it was a wrong one. I decided to take apart the broken one and pop in the new one. Works so far.
-Bought + installed new bosch+ windshield wipers for the Rav4. 22" driver, 19" passenger, i need a 12" for the rear as well as a 13" for Delilah. Hmm should i look at ebay?

Seems like we're going all out!!
My brother n i had one of those mechanic days where we just go fixin everything that has a motor in sight. I installed some Galfer HH+ brake pads on the moto, easy as pie. Glad i learned how to do it, it's not that hard, think of it as swapping a video card, sorta. They work, which is a good thing, and they have a pretty good grab to them. I like how these silly engineered things work. While looking at the old pads, they seemed to be made to be replaced in 32,000 mile intervals, which happens to be the "BIG" tune up schedule. I think i remember getting new pads with the new stainless brake lines back a while back at 4k miles. Nothing like doing it all at once, i still have 4k to go but hey i've already pulled the calipers off..
On Jenny's Rav4, we did an oil change as well as a coolant flush. He's going to a friends to do the Transmission fluids as well as possibly doing a brake fluid flush. Bangbangbang! do it all!
Got home and the in-laws were ready to flow, off to the Tachi reservation for some 'cha-chinging' as mums says. They can now call while on the road.. Oooo!
Sat around for a while and was informed that fluffielady has found a hutch for a decent price on craigslist and received a reply stating it's still there ready to be picked up. Took out the rear seats on the rav4 and headed to Rossmoor, which is embedded at Walnut Creek. It's a gated community, make that more like a gated city, with it's own police and mall areas.
The people we met were nice and was replacing their furniture. We find out that you need to be at least 55 years old to live in Rossmoor. Everybody lives in condos and their association pays for everything even tax assistance for retirement. The nice lady we guessed from her stories comes to an age of 79 while her 2nd husband (we think) is a little younger. They both were pretty mobile and spry. The husband helped me load the hutch into the rav4 and he was hopping in and out of the back seats with no trouble. I wanna be this guy when i'm that age!! Everybody around was nice and the weather was a sunny 80 degrees. It's like dorm life, minus the kegs, but who knows what these people do at night.
Stopped by Nan Yangs at Oakland (or edge of Berkeley?) and headed home with not much traffic. Fluffielady got all giddy and filled the display area quickly. It matches the dinner table quite well, almost exactly. Now i have a little area for my martini glasses and scotch crystal, woo!. Pic coming soon.
We're cool until project wine closet comes online.

Whelp that was easy,
The Rav4 is done up with new rotors and brakes and fluffielady likes the new stopping power. The rear pads have at least 85% left and all it needed was some adjustment.

Lets see:
Oil change for Delilah at 95250 miles.
Sent Fluffieladys Rav4 in for 60k service and a spare keyset @ 54k miles.
In that time period, went to a coworkers for tech support.
Few days ago we happened to be at BevMo, i looked around and got myself a bottle of Bowmore Scotch. it's a 12 year single malt that has a real thick smokey flavor. I think a little too overpowering. i can see it going well with anything smoked, and anything dark, like chocolate. So out of my Collection of Scotches, Blue Label, Gold Label, and Speyside is my currnet faves. Green Label has too much taste (like the volume on a radio is too high), and Bowmore is really dark and smokey. Anyone want some?
